We took a closer look at the planned Conservatory Bridge. Using the Master Plan report and some fancy guesstimating we determined the bridge to be one of the more impressive structures of the Great Park.

The Orange County Great Park organization has announced the Festival of Flight for Saturday, July 12 from 11 am - 3 pm at the new Preview Park. Parking and admission are free.

Balloon flights are back. This time with night flights. I'm assuming the park won't be that interesting to look at during the night, but the outlying lights and summer sunsets should satisfy passengers.

Christopher Hawthorne, Los Angeles Times Architecture Critic has named the Great Park design as one of his picks for Best of 2007. “The emerging design by Smith, Mia Lehrer and others is cheeky and smart, inventive about sustainability and conservation but never naturalistic,” says Hawthorne.
